Art therapy is the clinical and evidence based use of art interventions to accomplish individualized goals within the context of a therapeutic relationship.  Art therapy uses art media, the creative process and the resulting artwork as a therapeutic and healing process to explore feelings, reconcile emotional conflicts, foster self-awareness, manage behavior and addictions, develop social skills, improve reality orientation, reduce anxiety, and increase self-esteem. An art therapist’s education is well grounded in both art and art therapy in addition to human development, counseling, and psychotherapy. Research supports the use of art therapy within a professional relationship for the therapeutic benefits gained through artistic self-expression and reflection for individuals who experience illness, trauma, and mental health problems and those seeking personal growth.  (The American Art Therapy Association)

 

Baby Bee Maternal Wellness provides art therapy to mothers and parents seeking support with adjusting to the ever-changing landscape of parenthood.  We specialize in working with individuals with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADS), and recovering from trauma.

Individual Art Therapy or Coaching

$125 per session

Our work together will be a co-created and responsive experience.  While the work that we do will be well-grounded in arts psychotherapy theory, I also encourage intuition to act as co-facilitator, believing that we each know what we need for our optimal wellness, if given the proper tools and support.  Therefore I provide a supportive, nurturing space for healing to which you can bring your worries, passions, dreams, and every other part of you that need to be witnessed, loved, challenged, and supported.  I also provide the knowledge, know how and creative tools you need to identify and meet your unique goals.  We will use a variety of creative arts media such as art, journaling and movement to work through the issues you are experiencing, heal your past, and re-envision your future.

Group Art Therapy

$45 per session

Our pregnancy and postpartum recovery group focuses on helping new moms with depression and anxiety. Recognizing that child birth is a rite of passage, we will both celebrate and mourn the changes and transitions related to childbearing and rearing.  We will talk about the transitions and changes, grieve the losses, celebrate milestones, identify effective coping skills, develop tools for relaxation, and create manageable rituals for self care.  As a group we co-create a nurturing space where each mother’s individuality, expertise and experiences, are not only accepted, but embraced.
